As wildfires rage through California and PG&E cuts power to millions of people, we’re bringing together communities that have been unfairly burdened with the impacts of a dirty, dangerous energy system to demand a safe, reliable, community-and-worker-owned energy system that benefits all Californians, especially the people most harmed by PG&E and California’s other for-profit investor-owned utility monopolies, Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric and SoCal Gas.

📣Stop excessive utility profits! One in 5 Cali 📣Stop excessive utility profits!

One in 5 California families can’t afford their utility bills this winter. Yet PG&E and other investor-owned utilities are demanding even more profits for their Wall St. shareholders.

THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18 at 11 am, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will vote on utility profit margins – a monumental decision that will directly impact our already soaring bills for the next three years.

It’s critical that the CPUC hear from you. Tell the CPUC: protect ratepayers, not shareholders! Rein in out-of-control utility profits!

Our electric bills are too damn high — and this Our electric bills are too damn high — and this year candidates who pledged to lower rates and challenge for-profit utilities won big.

From New York to Georgia, Democratic Socialists to centrists, the people have shown they will vote for candidates who understand that energy is a human right and are willing to fight for it.

Utility justice is a winning issue…and it’s coming to a ballot near you!

7 years ago this week, PG&E’s faulty equipment s 7 years ago this week, PG&E’s faulty equipment sparked the Camp Fire that burned Paradise to the ground. It was the deadliest fire in California history, killing 85 people. And it was entirely preventable. PG&E knew about the risk but prioritized their profits above our safety.

For-profit utilities cause hundreds of wildfires every year in California. Executives pocket millions in bonuses for cutting safety budgets, ignoring maintenance in order to boost stock prices and shareholder profits, all the while knowing their outdated infrastructure is a death trap.

The new film the Lost Bus captures the terror and trauma of the Camp Fire – and the criminal negligence and greed of PG&E.

We stand in solidarity with the survivors, many of whom are still fighting for justice and fair compensation.

And we are building a movement to abolish PG&E, take the profits out of our energy system, and replace it with a People’s utility that works for us, not Wall Street shareholders.
